“Thankful Thursday”

All times … not some of the time … not even when it’s convenient … all times. And all means all.

Life is hard — I won’t argue with you. And I don’t know what you are going through right now — if I did, I’d probably ask you to pass the tissue box. Here is what I believe the Psalmist is drawing our attention to: GOD is not asking you to forget your troubles or difficulties. He is telling you to redirect your focus through your season of challenge and praise GOD while you’re in it.

There’s just something about praising GOD and experiencing a transformation of our mind. And while it may not instantaneously change the juxtaposition of our here and now, it will uplift our spirit to the Holy Spirit Who knows exactly where we are.

Maybe if we make the effort — to keep praise ‘ready to speak’ at a moments notice — that it will be easier for our mouths to tell our brains where to go and where to look. How to do that? Start small, Sister … try memorizing our key verse above. When that gut-wrenching, palm-sweating, nerve-wrecking moment arrives, you’re ready. And just keep at it. The Bible is full of verses that you can ‘tuck into your brain’ for those days.

  • Write in the comments below your go-to praise verse for the unexpected moments of challenge in your day. We’d love to see yours. We’ve shown you ours.

Father GOD, You are so, so good to us. Thank you for Your gentle reminders in Scripture that turn our hearts and minds back to You at all times — good and bad. Encourage us to want to keep praising You throughout our every move and in our every situation. Remind us to look over our shoulder to help the ones coming up behind us that may not know how to do this. In Jesus’ Name, AMEN.

I love you to Heaven and Back, Girlfriend ~~

  1. Trust in the Lord with all of your heart, and lean not on your own understanding:
    In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths. Proverbs 3:5-6

    Fear not, for I am with you;
    Be not dismayed, for I am your God.
    I will strengthen you,
    Yes, I will help you,
    I will uphold you with My righteous right hand. Isaiah 41:10

    1. Sharon: These two verses have meaning for me as well. There’s a lot of POWER in the STRENGTH from GOD’s Hand. And being the loving Father that He is, He is always wanting the best for us by giving us what we need — even before we realize we need it. Such comforting words in these verses indeed.
