Thankful Thursday

It’s that time of the year again, and the search for the perfect gift for the precious one on your list has begun.

Before we get too entrenched in the madness and chaos of online shopping and tracking our purchases and delivery dates, let us take a moment to pause and look up to the One Who gives us perfect gifts all the time — for the right time.

Seriously Sister, when I think about how I can run around like a crazy woman, fretting over the fear of missing someone (who should be on my list but somehow fell off of it), or to forget the one who’s birthday is just around the corner from Christmas that I inadvertently rushed through it …

There have been some years (I’m ashamed to admit) that my kids could probably recollect me shooting through the stores as if I were commissioned by the commander of Mission Impossible to search out the perfect gift for someone. And then to drop down at home to Silent Night but causing a ruckus with ‘where’s the wrapping paper?’ and ‘who hid the tape?’ *shaking my head in disbelief*

Taking the blessed time to just look up … maybe if even to fill up my lungs with His Breath … to exhale into a thankful praise for simply being one piece!

Yes, all the goodness of the Gifts of GOD sometimes arrive wrapped up in obscure things like compassion, patience, kindness, gentleness … sometimes the packages are listening ears, a shoulder to cry on, a sister to lean on …

Let this season take you there, Sister. To look deep into what you have already been given from His Hand. These are the good and perfect gifts. But make no mistake, it doesn’t end with what you can already see … I believe there’s more on the way. Get ready to receive.

  • What Perfect Gift are you waiting on from GOD right now?
  • If you had the Perfect Gift already in your possession, what would it look like and what do you plan to do with it?
  • Thinking of someone else who needs a Perfect Gift from GOD — what would you ask on their behalf?
  • Write out a prayer for someone who is on your heart that needs a Gift from GOD.

Father GOD, You know the desires of our hearts and what voids that only You can fill. Help us to have Your Heart for what we truly need. Transform our minds so that we see what is truly valuable for our lives and cause us to remember that You are the Giver of all things good and perfect. Teach us to be mindful of what matters and to be instruments of Your Love and Grace. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

I love you to Heaven and Back, Girlfriend ~~

    1. POSSESSHISPROMISES: Karen, yes, it’s the Ultimate Gift — Jesus Himself wrapped up in love. Through that love Heaven came down in the flesh and dwelt among us, Immanuel. May you experience His Love this Christmas, Sister.
