To be still and know that He is GOD … that’s the only way that courage could well up inside of me … to cause me to wait on Him.
I’m a do-er, Sister — my nature says to move. And with all gusto, I certainly do! It’s a very difficult thing for me to wait. Even while standing in line, be it at the grocery store, DMV, pharmacy … I’m fidgeting, swaying, tapping my toes to a song in my head, glancing at my to-do list … I’m doing anything but being still.
But I’ve learned how to wait.
While I may squirm, I quiet my soul to wait for what yet will be the best from He Who orchestrates it all.
In my lifetime, through all the ups, downs, turnarounds, upside downs and insides out … lessons learned. Waiting on the Lord renews my strength. And I need that renewed strength because I will soar. It’s similar to pulling up to the gas pump at the station. You turn off the engine to refuel.
but they who wait for the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint. Isaiah 40:31 ESV
If you’re frustrated with your current situation, Friend, consider doing something different. Try waiting — but only if you’re waiting for the One you know and Who Knows you. And once you’ve done that, be ready to soar like an eagle.
He will not disappoint you.
Taste and see that the LORD is good; blessed is the one who takes refuge in him. Psalm 34:8 NIV
