“I Have a New Name” – Hosanna Wong

For freedom Christ has set us free; stand firm therefore, and do not submit again to a yoke of slavery. Galatians 5:1 ESV

What name do you answer to? That can be totally different from what you were given when you entered the world. Many of us were called one thing, but our real name is nothing like it.

When we call our child in a crowded grocery store or at an amusement park.or even in at family gathering — they answer to the sound of our voice based on what they have become accustomed to hearing in reference to them — who they are.

As we journey through life, many names may have been dropped on us. Some of those names are destructive and have caused us to forget who we were meant to be. Or perhaps, have stifled the growth of the person we have yet to become — because we have believed them to be true. We mistakenly give power to these names by allowing them to become our identity.

But GOD …

I am convinced and confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will [continue to] perfect and complete it until the day of Christ Jesus [the time of His return]. Philippians 1:6 Amplified

When we come to Jesus we learn of our true identity. And that is real freedom, Sister. He breaks the chains of those old names and frees us to be who He intended us to be.

As we celebrate our nation’s freedom here in the United States, let us also remember that eternal freedom for which we have been ransomed. Paid for by Jesus Christ Himself and live in that freedom.

I love you to Heaven and Back, Girlfriend ~
