“There is no resurrection without death.” – Jackie Hill Perry
I don’t know of a sane human being that seeks to experience pain. In fact, most of us would vote for a pain-free life, right? I’m there with you and I’m sure the room would be crowded. However, it’s no secret that living in this fallen world, we will have pain and hardships and trials and just flat-out ugly seasons. Some of those distasteful seasons lasting longer than we expected. Many of us are still in a season that seemingly started (what feels like) ‘ages’ ago. Go ahead, I see you nodding your head. I’m right there with you, Friend.
And yet, there’s something to be said about making the journey with Jesus through the hard times – that’s what makes the difference. Yes, we’ll go kicking and screaming, pleading (most of us) for an abbreviated version of the journey. Let’s not forget the times we’ve begged (there, I used the word so you wouldn’t feel badly about thinking it) GOD to remove the pain, wave His mighty right Arm to divinely intervene and make it all go away. Yes, I’m embarrassed to say I’ve done those things too. So, why are we inclined to not want to have to experience the learning in the pain?
That ‘discomfort’ (and I realize for many of you that’s a word that is the furthest thing from your actual current status – I am not intending to discredit your situation) is where our relationship with the Lord has the opportunity to grow and mature as we authentically trust Him in the absence of additional accessories. The truth is: all we need is Jesus – He is enough. And there is work to be done when we hang out with Him and really get to know Him. There is no ‘complimentary accessory’ to Jesus. The Bible doesn’t say, “Jesus and this or that.”
Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. John 14:6 NKJV
Come and listen to this deep conversation. Grab something to take notes. You can always hit the rewind or replay. But do grab a hold of the impactful message here. You will have a-ha moments. I was humbled several times over, as I saw myself in far too many moments throughout this conversation. Jackie speaks with such a declaration of the Gospel truth that you will want to pause and pray to self-examine your own ways. And that’s a good thing, Friend. A very good thing.
I love you to Heaven and Back, Girlfriend ~
