“You Were Not an After Thought – You Were a First Thought”

As women, too often I think that many of us devalue ourselves as a result of past history that we’re still dealing with (or have not yet dealt with), maybe people that did not have your best interests at heart broke yours by speaking falsely into your space (and face). The outcome can be devastating, especially if you do not have a mentor or at least a couple close friends that are willing and able to speak the truth into your present place.

For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them. Ephesians 2:10 ESV

Perhaps there have been some destructive events in our lives that have overshadowed the love of GOD in a manner that we’ve accepted the lies told to us. You can say those words out loud right here, Sweet Friend: _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________.

It is said that you cannot fix what you do not acknowledge. Change can begin with your first step to call it out and then turn it over to Jesus and let Him do the changing and fixing.

In this specific moment, I want you to know that the Truth of the matter is that you were not an accident, surprise or after-thought. GOD designed you with intentionality. You were on His mind before you were on your parents’ mind. And He saw only love. He still does. Inhale that.

We could not have been born at any other time than the one we entered. The time it took for us to get here was meant to be. Your friends and family that rally for you in your corner — they were purposed, because GOD knew you could impact their lives with as much love as they pour into yours. All the experiences you’ve survived were purposed so that you would see the love of GOD through them and live to tell others about Him. Your magnetism is Jesus in you. It is HE through and in you that draws others towards Him.

Sister, I want you to know that your value far outweighs anything conceivable, because the love that got you here exceeds your wildest imagination.

You may be in a place where it’s a real challenge to believe that a love so great could be yours to experience — but it’s every bit true.

With every fiber in my body I want you to just receive that — and hold on to it until your mind convinces the rest of you. Then make it your goal to live it out. The Truth has a way of changing the trajectory of your life.

Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. John 14:6 ESV

Take this day to begin anew. And then do to same tomorrow. Repeat every day thereafter. His mercies are just like that — we have the blessing to begin fresh every day. No cap. Limitless. Isn’t that amazing?

It won’t be a perfect walk. But it will be a new one. Whether it’s your first step with Jesus, or you’re circling back to begin fresh with Him (again). Just keep growing so you can keep going, Friend. There is no end to His love for you. Take that to heart and let it bring you closer to Him.
