“It Is Finished” – Spoken Word Poetry by Gloria Umanah

When Jesus had received the sour wine, He said, “It is finished!” And He bowed His head and [voluntarily] gave up His spirit. John 19:30 Amplified

There is very little that can be said after those three defining words. With that declaration we were all set free. And with all gifts that are freely given, it has to be freely received. In other words, you have to take it and make it yours. Possess it. Own it.

What good is a birthday present, or Christmas gift or any gift for that matter, if it is left unopened? Days, weeks, months or years later, a gift still held captive within its neatly wrapped paper and elegant bow is unexperienced by its recipient. The sentiment is still there, the value unchanged but the joy awaits to be turned loose.

That doesn’t come close to what is overlooked when the gift of Grace and Redemption are left unanswered – no response, no acknowledgement is equivalent to a rejection.

When Jesus gave three years of living among us to show us (He knew spoken words would not be enough), and for those who preferred the intellectual investigation He gave proof through what had already been taught and written. And if all of that wasn’t enough, He told stories that common folk (like you and me) could relate to and physically touched bodies (making them whole) and repaired hearts (and the lives that held them) that were broken and shattered. What more could He do to prove the love of GOD?

At the end of His time with us on earth, He stretched out His arms to embrace all of humanity and gave us His last breath so that we could have an eternal one..

Come listen to this powerful moment with a very talented artist, Gloria Umanah. I was “introduced” to her at a conference two years ago and have since had a deep appreciation for her work.

I love you to Heaven and Back, Girlfriend ~

  1. Wow, That was a powerful message from her! I love your writing!  “That sentence makes me cry every time.” Everything is intense lately because I’m learning so much. I am absorbing so much like a sponge. It’s wonderful. Had my second Bible study at “Branches” this morning. Learning and more incredibly beautiful, excited gals. Yes, Jesus is everywhere. Keep these coming sister! ❤️Sent from my T-Mobile 5G Device

  2. I’m reading this again and I see about receiving, not opening a gift. I’m trying to understand all this. We will set free. Bible project someone was telling me that at our ladies group today. It’s good! Sent from my T-Mobile 5G Device
