“GOD Works While You Wait” ~ Faith Eury Cho

It’s no secret that we live in a world of instant gratification. Some of us can remember (back when dirt was new and the dinosaurs just left) having to wait for our meals to be prepared and cooked. We can recall waiting in the bank lines for a live person called a teller to process our transactions. Better yet, we can recall like it was yesterday, how we had to place a catalog order for specialty items and then wait for its arrival that generally took no less than two to three weeks. If this were the case today, people would be off the rails.

Technology can be a gift and a curse all in the same breath. While we find it uber convenient to press the “place your order” button and be confident that it will arrive in in three days (or even overnight), we’ve lost our patience to Prime Deliveries and overnight express.

So it is with our expectations with GOD. We perceive waiting for answers to prayer to be lengthy and annoying – because we want it when we want it, and we want it now.

Why is it that we can look at a baby and seemingly understand that it took at least nine months for her to develop into an infant ready for birth, recognize that it takes nearly the same amount of time before she can begin to walk and yet expect that when we ask the Lord for something and don’t instantly see any manifestation of our request, that He has abandoned us?

In the same manner that growth is required for a human being to be capable of performing certain basic tasks, GOD may deem it necessary for us to grow into being able to receive what He has set aside for us. There is always answer to prayer. It is His answer and His timing.
