“Remember Your Purpose In The Storm” ~ Naomi Raine

Jesus Calms a Storm

23 And when he got into the boat, his disciples followed him. 24 And behold, there arose a great storm on the sea, so that the boat was being swamped by the waves; but he was asleep. 25 And they went and woke him, saying, “Save us, Lord; we are perishing.” 26 And he said to them, “Why are you afraid, O you of little faith?” Then he rose and rebuked the winds and the sea, and there was a great calm. 27 And the men marveled, saying, “What sort of man is this, that even winds and sea obey him?” Matthew 8:23-27 ESV

Come join us as we listen to this powerful conversation among women of faith who will speak words of truth into your space. Everyone at the table has had her share of storms. Perhaps you are going through one right now. Do you need Jesus to calm your storm? Have you been waiting for Him to show up?

As I listened to the impactful words of the gospel come forth throughout this discussion, I admit that I was also nodding my head in agreement over some of the missteps I had taken many times over when panic would lead to doubt. While these sisters in the faith are awesome living examples, they, too, have fallen to their own thoughts and where their faith was redirected by the Lord when they cried out to Him.

I’ll ease some of your embarrassment here by breaking the ice for you. Let me raise my hand to saying, “Yes, there have been times when I didn’t understand why the Lord didn’t immediately intervene in a certain situation.” And yes, I am a woman of faith. However, in my weakest moments I have not always known how to look to Jesus for my total strength. Sometimes, we mistakenly think we have to meet Him with fifty percent of the energy and work. That’s not what His Word says.

10 That’s why I take pleasure in my weaknesses, and in the insults, hardships, persecutions, and troubles that I suffer for Christ. For when I am weak, then I am strong. 2 Corinthians 12:10 NLT

In my darkest and hardest moments, when I come to myself and realize that Jesus in me is the strength that will get me through it, that’s when the light comes on and I don’t have to wonder why my efforts aren’t working. He is my everything.

Grab something to take notes for this discussion; you will want to capture many of the Scripture references as you listen intently to the transparent sharing and truth-telling found here. It will ignite your spirit and build your faith.
