“A good friend will bring out the best in you.” ~ Chrystal Evans Hurst
After David had finished talking with Saul, he met Jonathan, the king’s son. There was an immediate bond between them, for Jonathan loved David. 2 From that day on Saul kept David with him and wouldn’t let him return home. 3 And Jonathan made a solemn pact with David, because he loved him as he loved himself. 1 Samuel 18:1-3 NLT
I found this topic with Chrystal to be very timely today. Maybe it’s the season, or should I say, ‘seasons’ that we’re about to step into. This is that time of year that people seem to put on their cray-cray suits on and go on a rampage about all the activities they plan to engage in over the next sixty days. And often times, it’s at the expense of relationships.
There’s a word that Chrystal repeats throughout her teaching: intentionality. That’s something that gets my attention. And it’s a good possibility that it resonates with me because I am lacking.
The Holy Spirit will do that for me. He will cause an ‘opportunity for learning’ to be made available to me, but I have to be quiet enough to take notice. When I am still and yielding, His Whispers are loud and clear. I then have to respond.
I had been wondering why certain people have not remained in my life ~ or at least, not engaged as I wished they had. Was I offensive in some way? Did I overlook something important? Have I neglected someone’s feelings?
Chrystal’s reminder of being intentional about friendships is crucial to us living on this planet. We were designed for community. GOD gave us friendships as a gift so that we would have the human support and encouragement that He knew we would need in difficult times.
There is the necessity for maturity ~ we all need to be willing to be transparent and honest in our close relationships. We have to love one another enough to speak truth, even when it may sting. Putting the other person’s heart in front of our to-do list demonstrates genuine friendship.
Come and be blessed by this podcast by Chrystal Evans Hurst. She will speak truth into your space and I pray that you will walk away with a renewed perspective of the graciousness of GOD through your treasured friendships and perhaps develop more.
I love you to Heaven and Back, Girlfriend ~

Oh girl, this is good, true! My Saddleback sisters, we did a 5-week series on friendship. The first was intentionality, and then investment…The final sermon and small group was about discernment. So important! Thanks for sharing this. Well done sister. Let’s do lunch!! 🤗Sent from my T-Mobile 5G Device
