I can’t help but wonder how this all truly happened. With our imaginations we can daydream about how things may have unfolded, but I tend to think that our minds are far too limited to have included the really miraculous of the Event that translated into Emmanuel. And even if we could come close, still yet we would conjure up with our contemporary mindset.
There is so, so much to consider: the adolescent innocence of mother Mary, the potential shame that could have befallen stepfather, Joseph … the disappointment of those who were awaiting a political savior … the elation of the lowest of all society that did not lead to their elevation … circumstances remained as they were … but GOD came and dwelt among us, in spite of our sinful ways.
It never ceases to take my breath away. The Sovereign Lord lowers Himself so that we can have an eternal second chance that would secure our lives and redeem everything and we would have the privilege to live a life knowing Him personally. Regardless of our past. And we all have one.
Who does this? How is this possible?
Jesus.
