For to us a child is born,
to us a son is given;
and the government shall be upon his shoulder,
and his name shall be called
Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Isaiah 9:6 ESV
If you’re anything like me, when you come across a good, I mean really good deal at the store, you just want all your friends to know about it. You might pull out your cell phone right there in the grocery aisle, take a picture and text it to a handful of friends. Some of us would go so far as to post it on social media.
And then there are those fabulous recipes that when you sink your teeth into that first bite you’re ready to devour the entire platter and you can’t thank the host enough for showcasing her gift of cuisine and hospitality (and for inviting you to join her).
Some of us like to make a proclamation by strutting a sweatshirt that declares who or what we’re wanting to rave about, whether it be a sport team, athletic brand popular catch phrase or even a social cause.
We have a found some creative ways to tell our story. So, what about the Story that tells about us?
Do we pour out the same level of enthusiasm in proclaiming the fact that we have been given eternal life and that others can receive too? Are we willing to risk it all, social humiliation, family rejection, workplace ostracism, being labeled a religious fanatic – to let the miracle be told that Jesus came to set us free?
What mountain do you have to climb to profess your faith openly? I’m not advocating the disruption of the workplace or being a nuisance to the productivity of a process or even being rude by getting into people’s faces with the gospel. However, some of the mountains we face can feel daunting and threatening to our comfort zones. In the grand scheme of things, honestly, Sweet Friend, they’re barely speed bumps.
I am challenging each one of us to boldly use our voices to share the grace of GOD. Because when you’ve found a good thing, a really good thing, you’ve got to tell somebody.
I love you to Heaven and Back, Girlfriend ~
