“The Secret To Getting Through” ~ Steven Furtick

The Lord Is My Shepherd

A Psalm of David.

23 The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
    He makes me lie down in green pastures.
He leads me beside still waters.
    He restores my soul.
He leads me in paths of righteousness
    for his name’s sake.

Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
    I will fear no evil,
for you are with me;
    your rod and your staff,
    they comfort me.

You prepare a table before me
    in the presence of my enemies;
you anoint my head with oil;
    my cup overflows.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me
    all the days of my life,
and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord
    forever.
Psalm 23:1-6 ESV

The title of this excerpt from Pastor Steven Furtick’s message caught my attention because I am needing to do that very thing: slow down.

It’s become my habit (I’ll say it that way) to rush through tasks because it’s also part of the repertoire of the people-pleaser in me. Yes, I’m still in recovery. Nonetheless, I’m so bent on wanting to check off all the boxes, that I will rush through things in my feeble attempt to get it all done. Can anyone relate?

And just as you’ll hear Pastor Furtick tell you, when you do something like that, you get sloppy and make a lot of mistakes that land you in a heap of fatigue and frustration because now you realize you have to do-over what you rushed through.

Most importantly in this powerful message is the fact that when trouble hits (and you know it will ~ so, if things are going smoothly right now, get your armor on, Friend, because around that next corner it’s about to shift), you need to slow down and go through your challenges knowing that GOD has you right where you need to be for the time being. He’s calling you to draw near to show you more of Himself.

It’s a message that I find to be impactful during this busy time of year when people tend to lose sight of Who GOD is and what He is wanting us to learn from our situations and circumstances. Bottom line: He is in the hard times (the valleys) with us and to get through them, we must keep walking ~ with Him. No need to panic, He’s got you covered ~ remember Who He is.

This is surely to be a message that I will hit the replay button several times over in the days to come and likely return to it when I find myself in another valley.

Come and take a break with me and listen to this ~ you’ll be glad you did.

I love you to Heaven and Back, Girlfrienf ~
