Lift Your Spirit – “A Very Maverick Christmas Special”

“Look! The virgin will conceive a child!
    She will give birth to a son,
and they will call him Immanuel,
    which means ‘God is with us.’” Matthew 1:23

Pause and let that fact sit with you for a bit: GOD is with you.

Now consider this: He wants to be with you. Not because you’re stellar, or uber-intelligent, or in the top five percent of your class, or because you’re the highest producer among your coworkers, or even because you give a lot of time and money to your local church. He wants to be with you just because He loves you.

GOD loves those of us who are not of the high IQ circles, the least articulate, the one who isn’t chosen to be on any athletic team, the one whose life has spiraled out of control, the daughter who can’t seem to make the right choices about the people she hangs with and the relationships she dives into. Yes, He loves us just as much.

When I reflect back on all the red-faced moments of my life (and there’s far too many to mention here), I can’t help but wonder why GOD would want to spend any time with me, much less remain by my side. How can a holy GOD draw so near a sinner like me?

Through the work of His only Son, Jesus ~ that’s how and that’s why. GOD the Father gave Jesus the authority to draw those who would receive His love to be accepted by the Father ~ and that’s a Promise He keeps. Doesn’t matter what your past looks like, Friend (because we all have one). Real love does that.

That humble night in the cave dwelling for farm animals, GOD came down in the form of a baby and lived among us. Immanuel. He got real close to us. And He’s up close today.

So, we sing and we celebrate His Birthday ~ because that’s when GOD in skin (if you will) showed us the Way.

Let this sweet collection of CHRISTmas songs stir your soul and take you to that place where you and Jesus met. If you haven’t had your “come to Jesus meeting,” perhaps this is that sacred moment for you and He to sit down and talk. He’s here waiting to have that time with you.
