I say this because I know what I am planning for you,” says the Lord. “I have good plans for you, not plans to hurt you. I will give you hope and a good future. Jeremiah 29:11 NCV
God began doing a good work in you, and I am sure he will continue it until it is finished when Jesus Christ comes again. Philippians 1:6 NCV
When I saw the title of this discussion, I had to chuckle. The gears in my head painted a picture of GOD Almighty ordering up at a restaurant. And you know, I kinda like that portrayal of GOD’s faithfulness.
As you will find out when you listen to this friendly and transparent conversation among friends, there is a distinction between our calling and our occupation (career, vocation – whatever you want to call that thing that you do everyday and get a paycheck for it).
In our passion to find out where we ‘fit in’ in the kingdom-building-team, we tend to overlook some very basic aspects of the life that GOD has laid out in front of us. One of those things is that He will not call you to something that He does not qualify you to do. Think about that for a moment, will you? You cannot jump out of bed one day and say, “I’m going to apply for a nursing job because I like those scrubs that those people wear to work – they don’t have to have a corporate wardrobe or go to work all dressed up in stiff suits.” That would be the worse reason to pursue a nursing career. As you can imagine, the academic coursework alone would cause you to run in the other direction. Moreover, if you didn’t have an ounce of compassion for service towards others (who may not return a thank you or are unkind to you when you do something nice for them), you are not likely a candidate for the role.
So, how do you identify what GOD has called you to do? Through an ongoing and flourishing relationship with Him, praying to Him and asking Him to reveal to you what you should be (as I call it) “placing your hand on.” Then do it! Often times, the assignment is already in your hand, but you overlook it because you’re expecting to see something else (usually what someone else is doing).
I truly loved this conversation ~ it’s full of Biblical wisdom from women who have “been there, done that and learned what GOD wants you to know” today, so that you can begin to live with the joy in your heart knowing full well that you’re on the right path.
Come sit with me for a bit, grab your favorite hot drink, something to dunk into it and munch on, and take notes as you learn from those who are fulfilling their calling according to what GOD has paid for in their lives and has paid for in yours as you discover His Will for you.
I love you to Heaven and Back, Girlfriend ~
