28 Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. Matthew 11:28-29 ESV
You’ve heard me reference my own tendencies towards perfectionism. I’m not proud of them nor am I advocating the opportunity to bash or blame those individuals in my past that may have played a part in contributing to my ultimate outcome. The past is a launchpad and learning place ~ a starting point for me from which to grow and understand that as an adult, I can make the conscious choice to take a different path and practice an entirely new way of thinking.
This brief discussion between friends, Joel and Shae, helps to peel back the layers of some of that perfectionism and understand that to take the focus off of me and my lack and turn it upward and realize the strength that is graciously available through the humility of becoming more Christ-like. The strength that helps me to recognize that in my weakness He (Jesus) is stronger.
I can stop striving so hard to be ‘ideal.’ You can stop the madness of trying so hard to be ‘ideal.’ It’s not about me and it’s not about you. It’s about Him (Jesus).
Come and take a break and listen to this insightful chat. Soak in what GOD’s Word says about the peace that is found when humility is embraced. You’ll be prompted to meditate on what you hear and I pray that it will be a catalyst for positive change moving forward.
I love you to Heaven and Back, Girlfriend ~
