I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
your works are wonderful,
I know that full well. Psalm 139:14 NIV
8 But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:8 NIV
2 Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will. Romans 12:2 NIV
We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ. 2 Corinthians 10:5 NIV
We hear a lot about selfishness and make every effort to run the other way or shun the obsessiveness that feeds into the propensity to become self-absorbed or self-centered. If anything, we certainly want to avoid being remotely associated with those negative descriptive adjectives.
But what happens when the scales tip in the other direction and the balance swings severely into an unhealthy view of ourselves to the point that we devalue what GOD has created and redeemed?
As women, there exists a fine line of where to strike that balance. We have such a strong tendency to give voice to others and encourage the weak that we neglect ourselves and unknowingly accept the wrong words spoken over us. Sometimes it’s intentionally meant to do harm towards us, and sometimes it’s subtle misunderstandings repeated over a period of time of who we truly are that we ultimately (and erroneously) come to believe.
In our busy lives, we spare too little time to the nurturing of our own souls and the neglect can lead to a lifetime of hurt and unhealed wounds simply because we have believed the lies that were spoken in our space (and perhaps to our face),
I invite you to join me in listening to this compelling conversation on self esteem, hosted by Leslie Vernick, licensed clinical social worker and relationship coach. For more than thirty years, she has helped individuals, couples, and families heal, rebuild, or grow their relationships. A popular author and speaker, she has written several books, including How to Act Right When Your Spouse Acts Wrong and the bestseller, The Emotionally Destructive Relationship. She leads Biblically and all her guidance is GOD honoring.
It is my prayer, Sweet Friend, that your road to healing may begin here. You are seen. You are heard. You are known. You are loved.
I love you to Heaven and Back, Girlfriend ~
