40 He answered, “I tell you, if these were silent, the very stones would cry out.” Luke 19:40 ESV
When we’re excited about our favorite sports teams, we’re in the stands but we’re not sitting down ~ we’re hollering at the top of our lungs, jumping up and down like a person who has lost her mind. Win or lose, you’ll hear our voices cheering them on.
As a “track mom,” my mission was to let the entire team hear me call out their names to motivate and show support. My son’s relay team mates testified to hearing me on the opposite side of the track ~ calling out each name as they sprinted their laps. Because I believed in them and their mission.
This Scripture verse was spoken by Jesus when He entered Jerusalem on (what we call) Palm Sunday. People who had been eyewitnesses to His miraculous works were hailing Him as king. But Jesus had opponents ~ Pharisees ~ that wanted the crowds to be silenced. And that was when our Savior proclaimed that if the people didn’t shout their praises, the very stones would cry out. Even nature knows the truth.
Today, I encourage all of us to “cry out” the tenets of our faith by the way we live, speak, and breathe. Let the whole world know Who Jesus is! Get up off your seats ~ don’t let a stone praise GOD because you refused to. Act on your faith, Friend, and let the world know that Jesus lives.
I love you to Heaven and Back, Girlfriend ~
