9 And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up. Galatians 6:9 ESV
I love this suggestion from Joyce Meyer: “While you’re waiting, the best thing you can do is help someone out.” This is golden. Let that sit with you for a bit.
If you’re anything like me, waiting is not on my list of favorite activities. In fact, I’d rather do household chores than wait. And I’m sure you’ll agree that waiting feels so unnecessary and unproductive, right? Like, let’s just do this already! However, the Scriptures reveal an entirely different picture.
14
Wait for and confidently expect the Lord;
Be strong and let your heart take courage;
Yes, wait for and confidently expect the Lord. Psalm 27:14 Amplified
31
But those who wait for the Lord [who expect, look for, and hope in Him]
Will gain new strength and renew their power;
They will lift up their wings [and rise up close to God] like eagles [rising toward the sun];
They will run and not become weary,
They will walk and not grow tired. Isaiah 40:31 Amplified
I can think of a few Biblical characters that had their ‘season’ of waiting: Joseph waited for justice after being sold into slavery by his own siblings. David was anointed king as a teenager, possibly 12, 13, or 14 years old and waited twice his age before coming into the throne. The woman with the ‘issue of blood’ waited at least 12 years before being healed and restored. Noah obeyed GOD and acted on his marching orders to build an ark over the course of a few generations in an era that did not know rain.
In this age of internet speed and overnight talent discoveries, meals and groceries delivered to your door and products arriving sooner than your next mail drop, it’s no wonder we are as impatient as we are. I tend to think that people are even talking at an incredibly faster pace.
Come and listen to Joyce as she encourages and uplifts us as we wait upon the Lord ~ for whatever we are anticipating, hoping and praying for.
