15 No longer do I call you servants, for the servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all that I have heard from my Father I have made known to you. John 15:15 ESV
Friend. We each have at least one ~ I hope. And more than just knowing a person’s name, we have a relationship with them, that extends beyond, “Hi, how’s it going?” That’s an acquaintance.
The Oxford dictionary defines friend this way: a person whom one knows and with whom one has a bond of mutual affection, typically exclusive of sexual or family relations.
Mutual affection. That’s a partnership with bonded hearts that look out for one another.
13 There is no greater love than to lay down one’s life for one’s friends. John 15:13 NLT
Jesus has shared Himself with us and laid His own life down for ours. That kind of friendship is one-of-a-kind.
When I have felt like no one understands me … when I feel like I just don’t want to have to explain myself … when I don’t want to burden anyone or burn their ears off with having to listen to my issues … when people have disappointed me … when life feels like it’s been running sideways for far too long … I’ve learned to lean into and press into my Jesus, my best Friend. I can unpack for hours through the night and He never tires of hearing from me.
Come and get up on your feet with this worship song, Sister, and celebrate your Friendship in Jesus. You’re in good with Him ~ He’s the King of kings!
I love you to Heaven and Back, Girlfriend ~
