Anyone else waiting on GOD for something hoped for?
Ruth Chou Simons’ latest book (and Bible Study) entitled: “Now and Not Yet” is your go-to for your here and now.
Let’s face it, it’s hard to wait. For some strange reason, we have the innate tendency to tap our toes to a cadence of impatience when things don’t happen for us overnight. Especially when we feel that we’ve seemingly checked off all the right faith prescriptions, ‘laid it all at the Feet of Jesus,’ highlighted and memorized all the relevant Scripture verses, and downloaded all the pertinent sermons. Somehow, we think our impressive behavior would ‘move things along’ a bit quicker.
But GOD …
8 “For My thoughts are not your thoughts,
Nor are your ways My ways,” says the Lord.
9 “For as the heavens are higher than the earth,
So are My ways higher than your ways,
And My thoughts than your thoughts. Isaiah 55:8-9 NKJVOnly He can write in indelible ink. With GOD, there is no Plan B. Let that sit with you for a bit.
Or perhaps we’re in a season where we’re beginning to question if we even heard GOD correctly. Surely, He didn’t intend for us to wait this long … *sigh* Another walk through the wilderness.
I read this book in small bites ~ literally, during my lunch break at work. And with each thoughtful and Holy Spirit inspired page, I could see where I truly was not in alignment. Like a chiropractic adjustment, there were pages where I had to pause and just let GOD snap me out of my wrong-way thinking. And Ruth was lovingly instrumental in accomplishing that. I felt as though I was meeting up with a trusted friend at lunch to hear godly wisdom. She spoke truth to my face without even seeing me on the other side of the table. Some of those precious pages are filled with highlights that I will revisit ~ because I am in my own season of now and not yet.
I highly recommend this carefully thought out writing from Ruth Chou Simons. Ruth is real and won’t try to masquerade as anything more or less. She has the perseverance of a mama bear and the artful gift of words onto paper. And as she masterfully wove the words of this latest book, she also uses her gift of brushstrokes and artistry to capture the movement and expression of your soul when you have that intimate relationship with Jesus.
This is a must-have for your library.
“Thank you, Ruth, for stewarding your gifts of the paintbrush and the pen. Keep writing and painting that canvas ~ the world is a better place because you have chosen to follow your calling.”
I love you to Heaven and Back, Girlfriend ~
