“Don’t let yourself become stuck in a past that is no more. There are good things coming, but you won’t experience them if you can’t walk toward them.” ~ Steven Furtick
A couple weeks ago I shared the conversation between Pastor Steven Furtick and Lysa TerKeurst, that focused on this newly released book. I’m here now to tell you that it is a definite read for you, no matter what season you find yourself in, because all followers of Christ are called to grow and flourish.
Remaining stagnant or staying right where you were when you first came to Jesus doesn’t equip you to win souls, disciple others, or live for Him today or moving into tomorrow, for that fact. The Scriptures tell us to constantly feed on the Word by studying so that we can engage in the battles of life. Babies are not meant for the frontlines of life.
12 You have been believers so long now that you ought to be teaching others. Instead, you need someone to teach you again the basic things about God’s word. You are like babies who need milk and cannot eat solid food. 13 For someone who lives on milk is still an infant and doesn’t know how to do what is right. 14 Solid food is for those who are mature, who through training have the skill to recognize the difference between right and wrong. Hebrews 5:12-14 NLT
Pastor Furtick in this compelling book challenges us to take that step forward (one at a time) towards becoming the best version of who GOD created us to be. That’s the (k)new you ~ the version that lives according to His Design. For many of us, that’s the 2.0 version after the conversion. The transformed edition.
When Jesus walked with and taught His disciples, He was constantly reminding them to be open to the challenges of life and conquer them by faithful living. Fear is paralyzing ~ we all know this. Adults have learned to shy away and be fearful of things we are not familiar with and so too often we hold back from the seed of potential GOD planted within us. It’s no wonder we remain right where we started.
The you that is worth becoming through all the hard work and discipline is the real you. The version of you that GOD always knew since He thought of you. You’re not trying to reinvent a better version of the old you ~ that would be like spraying perfume on a pair of workout shoes ~ at the end of the day (and when the scent wears off) they still stink.
I encourage you to grab this book and dive in to the principles that Pastor Furtick so plainly (and humorously) shares. You’ll be empowered to live the life GOD intended you to live because you’ll be living according to His Design for you. And we all know there’s only one you.
I love you to Heaven and Back, Girlfriend ~
