“Discover Your Purpose” ~ Joyce Meyer’s Talk It Out Podcast

Trust in the Lord with all your heart,
and do not lean on your own understanding.
In all your ways acknowledge him,
and he will make straight your paths. Proverbs 3:5-6 ESV

21 Many are the plans in the mind of a man,
but it is the purpose of the Lord that will stand. Proverbs 19:21 ESV

You may have already surmised by now that I’m the kind of person that likes to ‘know what’s coming up next.’ In other words, I can get caught up in a cycle of, “GOD, what is Your Will for me today … tomorrow … next week … next month …” Don’t get me wrong, I believe we should seek the Lord’s Will in our lives. And yet, He gifted us with free will to live within His Plan for us.

Many of us can become paralyzed by trying to live the perfect life. Not to mention wearing the perfect outfits, having the perfect current hair style, using the latest and greatest technological gadgets, being on all the social media platforms, knowing all the coolest places to drink gourmet coffee blends and get to the most recent movie sequel in the series.

I think that too often as Believers have the tendency to strive so hard to live perfectly within the Will of GOD that we miss out on the joy of living for GOD. Our Sovereign Lord is not a harsh task master. And He created us with a brain and mind that when surrendered to Him can do amazing things that glorify Him.

Perhaps you can relate to wanting to do something so ‘right’ … so ‘perfect’ that we overlook how we are actually going about doing that and (are you ready?) the motives that are driving us to insanity (not to mention the folks around us that are suffering as a result of the aftermath of our tornado-like behavior). Are we trying to impress others with our spectacular project or program, or better yet, how we appeared and looked while it was in motion? Are we seeking the accolades and praise of the onlookers? Something to consider and maybe to re-examine.

Come and sit with me for a bit and listen to this candid conversation, and embrace what Joyce calls, “Trusting and Not Trying.” You’ll get it. Lean in to learn about some spiritual maturity that just may be what we need to grow into.

I love you to Heaven and Back, Girlfriend ~
