Guard your heart above all else,
for it determines the course of your life. Proverbs 4:23 NLT
But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me. 2 Corinthians 12:9 ESV
So do not throw away this confident trust in the Lord. Remember the great reward it brings you! Hebrews 10:35 NLT
Brothers, I do not consider that I have made it my own. But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, Philippians 3:13 ESV
Distractions can drag us away from our first love: Jesus. You might be thinking, “Oh, no, that would never happen.” In as much as we want to remain faithful, we have to work at making sure our relationship with the Lord is well protected.
Little known secret: we live in a fallen world. That said, there are things – activities, alluring projects, not-so-bad-looking groups, couldn’t-possibly-be-evil, they-say-they-believe-in-GOD people – that can present themselves as harmless on the exterior, but in disguise are destructive to who we are in Christ.
Over time, regular exposure to such “things” anesthetize us to the reality of their destructiveness in our lives. These “things” are designed and geared to steal our joy and passion for Jesus.
