28 Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.” Matthew 11:28-30 NLT
This is one of those book titles that just seemed to grab me in the season I needed to hear from it. Because in as much as we toss out the usual response of, “Yes, I’m good,” we aren’t always living it (and certainly not feeling it). In fact, I tend to think that most of the time we say those three ‘safe’ words because we don’t have the bandwidth to go the full-length explanation of what’s truly brewing inside.
I read this book very intentionally and slowly digested it on lunch breaks. In the quiet corner of solace, I was able to do a lot of self-examination. And Debra Fileta does a phenomenal job of allowing you to ‘feel’ your emotions without condemnation. I often felt as though I was having private conversations with her as I read the words in her book.
Her delivery is down-to-earth. Her knowledge of Scripture as it applies to our ‘whole self’ is on point. Every exercise and journal prompt causes us to refocus and align with how GOD desires His Daughters to live: victoriously in Him.
This is not her latest book. But it is one that will likely draw me towards her other works. It has been a valuable gift in a season filled with complex issues and much anxiety. I thank Debra for guiding me on how to ‘feel my emotions’ and recognize that they, too, are a gift from GOD. We are so fearfully and wonderfully made!
I love you to Heaven and Back, Girlfriend ~
