“What About Me?” ~ Joyce Meyer’s Talk It Out

When you do things, do not let selfishness or pride be your guide. Instead, be humble and give more honor to others than to yourselves. Do not be interested only in your own life, but be interested in the lives of others. Philippians 2:3-4 NCV

In today’s culture, it’s hard to not be selfish. It seems as though so much of what we hear and see is hyper-focused on making certain that we are well-taken care of before the needs of others.

While there are those in the small percentages that are undeniably giving so much of themselves that they neglect their own self-care, the vast majority of us are preoccupied with satisfying our own needs (appetites, conveniences, levels of comfort, image, etc.).

This way of thinking starts from the moment we rise out of bed. Many of us will break down concrete walls to get to our own way before we even step out of the door.

The most humbling thing for the Believer is to consider the words of the apostle Paul in the Scripture verse above.

Come and sit with me for a break and listen to this discussion among friends who are transparent about their own experiences of being selfish and how the Word of GOD can transform us to be selfless.

  1. Have not watched that yet. I can tell you I was very self-centered. And when I was married it was always about me. Maybe in certain areas I tried to please him for the most part and everyday life very selfish. God Has Changed Me transformed me. Others come first. I don’t neglect myself, but… when I was at Living Waters it was all about me. Terrible way to live. Thank you so much for putting up with me. 🥰🙌Sent from my Galaxy
