“I Want To Trust You, But I Don’t” by Lysa TerKeurst
I must admit, I wasn’t sure if I wanted to pick up this book. One glance at the title triggered a tsunami of emotions that I really didn’t want to deal with ~ I thought I was done with all that. But then I saw the second statement in the subtitle: “Afraid of what GOD will allow.” And I knew it was meant for me.
This has been my lunch break reading for a couple weeks now, and not that it’s a lengthy book, but that anything I commit to digesting with my eyes while my body is ingesting nourishment is likely deep enough to want to savor slowly.
Relationships are complicated because they’re multi-faceted. I believe that’s largely attributed to the complexity of the people involved. We engage with one another while carrying the baggage of hurt and pain from yesteryears gone by. We wear bandages over the wounds that have yet to heal. Our memories can recall with great detail the sights, sounds, and smells of events that we wish had never happened.
Whether you’ve had devastating outcomes to broken relationships and are looking over your shoulder at what you’ve survived, or are currently walking through the landmines of a battlefield today, this writing from Lysa TerKeurst will help the healing. As I discovered, coming to the realization of allowing GOD to be Who He is in all things (including my messy moments in life), requires more humility than I bargained for.
I highly recommend this book by Lysa TerKeurst (as I do all books that she authors). You will come face-to-face with areas in your life that perhaps you’ve been avoiding because you were fearful of what GOD would ask you to do. And that is exactly where your faith will kick into high gear (and kick you in the rear), as you begin to trust the Lover of your soul with a new awareness of how He wants you to trust Him for every moment of your healing.
It will bring you closer to the Lord Who loves you in spite of your huge mistakes, and will help you begin to release your grip on things you were never meant to wrap your pretty little fingers around. And that, my Friend, is part of the gift from GOD that will leave you awestruck.
I love you to Heaven and Back, Girlfriend ~
