14 You are my friends if you do what I command you. 15 No longer do I call you servants, for the servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all that I have heard from my Father I have made known to you. John 15:14-15 ESV
In the not so distant past, we were separated from GOD. No intimacy. No relationship. Nada. Zilch. But if you have been reconciled to the Father through the Blood of Jesus Christ ~ that is, if you have accepted Jesus as your personal Lord and Savior ~ then you have a Friendship with GOD.
Let that sit with you a bit.
Relationship. That means there’s communication going both ways. GOD speaks, we listen. We speak, GOD listens. And because we recognize Him as GOD we acknowledge that He knows more and better than we do. So, we do what He tells us to do, not because we’re thoughtless and mindless robots, but because we love Him.
The Father says that whoever accepts His Son, He also accepts. There’s no other way. No other person, method, belief system that has the capacity nor power to do that.
6 Jesus answered, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. The only way to the Father is through me. John 14:6 NCV
Jesus summed it up in a non-negotiable verse.
It is my prayer that you can stand up and say, “I am a friend of GOD ~ He calls me friend!”
If you aren’t sure where you stand, then this is the moment for you to kneel. And to come to the Father through Jesus. Tell Him you need Him. Ask Him to forgive you of all your past, present and future sins, Ask Him to transform you into His Child. Surrender your life and will to Him.
Allow His Holy Spirit to lead and guide you to human friends that will pray with and for you. Get rooted in a Bible believing and teaching house of worship. Dive into the Word of GOD daily for sustenance for your soul. And you will begin to experience a transformation that only Friends of GOD can.
And this song may very well become your new anthem.
