“Little Drummer Boy” ~ Josue Avila Christmas

7-10 Now God has us where he wants us, with all the time in this world and the next to shower grace and kindness upon us in Christ Jesus. Saving is all his idea, and all his work. All we do is trust him enough to let him do it. It’s God’s gift from start to finish! We don’t play the major role. If we did, we’d probably go around bragging that we’d done the whole thing! No, we neither make nor save ourselves. God does both the making and saving. He creates each of us by Christ Jesus to join him in the work he does, the good work he has gotten ready for us to do, work we had better be doing. Ephesians 2:10 The Message

We are exactly where we are for the right purpose according to GOD’s Plan. He designed us to live out our lives using the gifts and talents planted within us to glorify Him and point others towards Him.

What you do that drops the jaws of those around you has nothing to do with what you have earned. The skill and mastery is made possible by the Sovereign Lord Who intentionally purposed you to behold those abilities and to do well by them. You may manage them well by practicing and (nearly) perfecting them to the best of your ability. Nonetheless, the GOD that placed them within you has the ability to take them away as swiftly as He planted them.

Every year I try to search out a rendition that captivates the depth of what my soul longs to express, but struggles to articulate. This song depicts a child-like humility that trusts that the King of kings will receive his talent. And he plays with all his heart.

Child-like faith. That’s what Jesus says we need to lean into. No highly sophisticated and impressive manner ~ just pure innocence.

What are you doing with your gifts and talents?

Perhaps it’s time to revisit what we have and stop wishing for what we don’t have.

May you be blessed beyond your imagination as you experience the intentionality and intensity at which this child devotes his God-given talent and offers it up as worship.

I love you to Heaven and Back, Girlfriend ~
