Do you have half of a minute to spare?
It doesn’t take much effort to know that we’re surrounded by a lot of distraction. Everything from political arguments to solving the homeless crisis; war zones and battlefields on the ground to the ones in our minds; economic challenges and educational disintegration. We as the human race are in a heap of trouble.
If we’re truly honest, we can’t overlook the trouble we’re in and the mess we’ve caused for ourselves.
It’s not time to “take back anything.” It’s time to “give back everything.”
Giving our ego, our selfishness, our demanding selves … back to the GOD Who can redirect our hearts and minds if we let Him. But we have to admit we are wrong. Can’t change what you don’t acknowledge.
7 For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out. 1 Timothy 6:7 NKJV
Where is it written that a demanding self-seeking egocentric persona is a character trait to be sought after by the Believer? Nowhere. In fact, that’s what the wagging finger says of the unsaved. We fail to recognize the three fingers pointing back at us. Somehow we have avoided looking into the mirror these days to see what is staring back at us.
Is the Church living up to the directives given by Jesus to love our neighbor (that includes the image bearing unbeliever) with compassion and mercy (even when they are of a different religious belief, economic status, ethnic background, educational orientation) so that they can visibly see Him in us?
Or are we just choosing to hang out with “our own kind?”
Sister, we can’t fix this world. We’re not of it, so let’s remember that we’re not here to stay. We’ve got to get back to the fact that if we are in Christ, our home is in Heaven with Him. Not on this temporary place we mistakenly cling to. This journey is temporary and passing. We are called to make the most of it by living according to His Will and Purpose ~ not ours.
20 But we are citizens of heaven, where the Lord Jesus Christ lives. And we are eagerly waiting for him to return as our Savior. Philippians 3:20 NLT
Let’s take the next thirty seconds to pray for a heart that breaks for what breaks our Savior’s heart and sincerely desire to seek after His Will for our lives, living as though we knew He sees everything we think and do.
I love you to Heaven and Back, Girlfriend ~

I have avoided looking in the mirror and seeing what’s pointing back at me. I’ve been so busy dealing with my daughter’s health and everything else. Yesterday, I was laid off from work, and now God is giving me the chance to sit down and look back in the mirror and see what’s pointing back, and I need to do it.
