“Does Having Friends Matter? Spoiler Alert: Yes” ~ Christine Caine

24 A man who has friends must himself be friendly,
But there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother. Proverbs 18:24 NKJV

Life is messy. Relationships are messy because imperfect people (includes all of us) come from messy places. Would you agree?

In this very raw and transparent podcast, Christine Caine shares her heart and heartbreak over personal loss of her own relationships. But Christine also brings to light a fact that many of us forget in our quest for perfect friendships: Jesus had only twelve close friends. Of the twelve, one betrayed Him, one denied ever knowing Him, and the rest abandoned Him in His greatest time of need.

Jesus spent three years with most of these close friends. They were participants and front row observers to some of the most incredible miracles ever written about. They traveled, ate, celebrated, grieved, and did life together. One even became an ‘adopted son’ to mother Mary after Jesus was crucified.

But one thing is certain: there was dissension among them because they were human. They even fought over who would sit at His right hand in Paradise.

Just because Jesus was in their presence things were not totally flawless. Let that sit with you for a bit.

While many of us would love to keep the friends we have known for several years, that is not always a guarantee. As adults, we’ve come to experience the harshness of this fallen world includes the dissolution of some treasured relationships. Not all have to end in a traumatic fashion or over tragic means. Sometimes, people just stop coming around, stop calling, stop reaching out. Disconnect can be so painful. Sometimes it’s necessary.

Join me for a break to listen to Christine put this topic in perspective for us from GOD’s Word. Allow for it to minister to you in those broken places where friendships may have faded away. Because at the end of the day, we still need our friends and they need us.

I love you to Heaven and Back, Girlfriend ~
