11 The Lord said to Elijah, “Go, stand in front of me on the mountain, and I will pass by you.” Then a very strong wind blew until it caused the mountains to fall apart and large rocks to break in front of the Lord . But the Lord was not in the wind. After the wind, there was an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake. 12 After the earthquake, there was a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire. After the fire, there was a quiet, gentle sound. 1 Kings 19:11-12 NCV
Can I speak to the one who is determined to check off all the boxes on her to-do list today, regardless of the personal sacrifices she may have to make? Is there a Sister in the crowd who feels that she will be devalued if she’s not in control of all the chaos surrounding her (or at least, appears to have lost control)? Are you fearful that drowning is your only option?
Welcome to life. You are in good company, Friend.
When I read this Scripture verse, I am humbled to repentance. Because I must admit, I do forget Who really holds everything in His Hand. And He is not impressed by my activity.
In recent days, I have been soulfully reminded (meaning that the Holy Spirit has specifically impressed upon my heart) of this one thing that I don’t always do: silence myself to revere and receive.
In my driven manner to convince an observant world that ‘I got this’, I get caught up in the chaos. The chaos of what is least important when it comes to what GOD has designed me to participate in. And it’s when I finally work myself up into a tangled mess do I come to my senses. I’m sure the Lord was watching me with a smile on His Face, knowing that I would eventually collapse into His Arms.
This day I invite you to join me in a moment of silence.
Not an empty space of quiet, or relaxation. But rather in humility and grace to intentionally be present for the One Who is always present. And to receive from Him your daily bread. That bread of life that can only come from Him ~ His word, His exampled life, His teachings, His miracles, His promises, His discipline ~ receive Sister and be blessed!
Let this be your refreshing moment with the Lover of your soul. He doesn’t scream or holler at you. His voice is gentle, His leading is light. Be willing to act on the still small voice that speaks to your inner spirit.
“Be still, and know that I am God.
I will be exalted among the nations,
I will be exalted in the earth!” Psalm 46:10 ESV
I love you to Heaven and Back, Girlfriend ~

*Thank you to Elevation Rhythm for this.

Love this Linda! We were talking about this last night studying woman of Proverbs 31 as well as the shulamite woman. Song of Songs. I’m also doing the study on Acts, wow. We are not perfect and as a woman we try to do everything to be valued. But our number one purpose is to serve God. That’s a huge purpose. I need to have my alone time and be still, knowing it is only He that holds my life together.Sending you love and gratitude filling my mind and my heart with God’s word. Sent from my Galaxy
