16 Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego answered and said to the king, “O Nebuchadnezzar, we have no need to answer you in this matter. 17 If this be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of your hand, O king. 18 But if not, be it known to you, O king, that we will not serve your gods or worship the golden image that you have set up.” Daniel 3:16-18 ESV
Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah ~ those were their original Hebrew names. King Nebuchadnezzar changed their names to try to conform them into Babylonian culture. But these young men remained who they were on the inside, regardless of what people called them.
The pressures of current culture can sometimes cause us to do things we wouldn’t normally do. We may bend a little here and bend a little there, all for the sake of being accepted and approved by onlookers. We forget who we are meant to be. Who we are designed to mirror.
If we remember Whose we are, we are likely to stand firm in our faith believing that no matter what happens to us on the outside, He Who is inside of us is far stronger and greater than even our greatest fear.
GOD is able to do anything. Anything. ANYTHING.
He chose to spare the lives of those three young men that were thrown into a furnace. And they willingly went in, declaring that even if GOD chose not to let them live, He was still GOD and He is still good. No. Matter. What.
Just because we know who GOD is, and we learn more about Him everyday, and we are in relationship with Him, doesn’t mean life is going to be smooth for us.
33 “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” John 16:33 NIV
But it is in those troublesome times that we can keep going because we have Hope. His Name is Jesus.
Let’s not get so comfy to think that just because we know the King of kings that we’ll be sliding into heaven without scraped knees or a few battle scars. We will bear the scars of our faith in action.
We must remember, that no matter what happens between now and Paradise, GOD can do the most unimaginable things. He always answers prayer. His answers can be ‘yes,’ ‘no,’ or ‘not yet.’ And we’ve got to trust Him with all of that.
So keep talking to Him, keep leaning on Him, keep reaching for Him, keep learning more about Him. Sister, He is more than able to create that breakthrough. He has been there through every meltdown. GOD will not leave you to fend for yourself.
3 ‘Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.’ Jeremiah 33:3 NIV
C’mon Sister, pour your heart out to the Lord and as you do that, keep your head up because He is always able to turn things around.
I love you to Heaven and Back, Girlfriend ~
