When you pass through the waters,
I will be with you;
and when you pass through the rivers,
they will not sweep over you.
When you walk through the fire,
you will not be burned;
the flames will not set you ablaze. Isaiah 43:2 NIV
Maybe you are facing some difficult waters right now.
Personally speaking, my preference is gazing over a lake. Somehow the stillness captures my attention in a way that I am brought to a place of peace and calm. I like the beauty of a sparkling still lakeside view.
Rivers are moving waters ~ that’s the kind that makes my heart race with anxiety, because I am not in control and I’m at the mercy of its natural movement.
Worse than a river is a storm over the river. Airlift me ~ I want out!
Perhaps the situation you’re in, Sweet Friend, is a stormy river that feels like you’re about to go under. I get you. I’ve been there.
But GOD … oh, these are the two sweetest words known to mankind …
He is more than able to bring you through the harshest of times. I’m living proof. You are living proof.
You and I have both lived through some ugly times. And we’re here to tell each other we made it. I’m here to tell you to remember those faithful times of GOD, so that you can get through this one, too.
Too often, I think that we forget that what felt unbearable in the last season of hard times, we made it through. It may not have been easy. We likely have some battle scars to prove it. Nonetheless, GOD brought you through to testify of His strength to sustain you in the most grueling moment.
We must remember the faithfulness of GOD for every season He brought us through, because He never left us there. And He is true to His Word ~ He is with you (and me) in this river of stormy moments again.
Take a moment to listen to Pastor Deena as she points us to Scripture and reminds us that the increasing challenges in our lives are growing seasons where our faith has the opportunity to grow as we gowith Jesus through the storms.
I love you to Heaven and Back, Girlfriend ~
