10 Then he said to them, “Go your way. Eat the fat and drink sweet wine and send portions to anyone who has nothing ready, for this day is holy to our Lord. And do not be grieved, for the joy of the Lord is your strength.” Nehemiah 8:10 ESV
It’s always a good day to praise the Lord!
Especially when things are going sideways. Yes, when it’s not sunny outside, not when the birds are singing, not when the road traffic is moving at the pace you want it to, not when you get the best parking spot in the lot, not when your health lab results come back really good, not when your kids score all A’s on their report cards, not when you get that promotion or raise at work …
When life feels like it’s flat out falling apart and unraveling. Yes, that’s when it’s time to lift your praise.
Okay, maybe this song is over-the-top in joyfulness. It could be just enough for you to look upward towards Heaven and simply thank GOD for the breath in your lungs and the blood in your veins this morning. I totally get you, Sister. I’ve had those days, too.
My point is that when we raise praise in the face of fear, anxiety, worry, and a life that feels like the ground beneath us is about to swallow us … we are able to do like king David, and take down that giant with what GOD has placed within us. We declare that GOD is sovereign over all the enemies that attack us, tangible or unseen.
So, don’t let the enemy of your soul steal your joy. Take it back by lifting your voice and give GOD the glory for what He is doing (even if it’s behind the scenes). He continues to work for you (me).
The joy of the Lord is your strength!
I love you to Heaven and Back, Girlfriend ~
