“The Cost of Trying to Control Everything” ~ Lysa TerKeurst

33 I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.” John 16:33 ESV

31-33 Jesus answered them, “Do you finally believe? In fact, you’re about to make a run for it—saving your own skins and abandoning me. But I’m not abandoned. The Father is with me. I’ve told you all this so that trusting me, you will be unshakable and assured, deeply at peace. In this godless world you will continue to experience difficulties. But take heart! I’ve conquered the world.” John 16:31-33 The Message

As if I could operate life’s circumstances by pressing the buttons on a remote control, I will admit to wanting to control the situations and outcomes of life.

Can you relate?

But as Lysa so beautifully articulates her heart to connect with yours and mine on this level, we are not called to do GOD’s job. We are called to obedience. He is GOD and we are not.

I still wrestle with this ~ don’t throw stones at me here, I’m a work in progress. Not that I wrestle with acknowledging Who GOD is, but that I wrestle with prying my fingers from attempting to press those remote control buttons. Maybe it’s to speed up a process. Perhaps it’s to create a certain outcome. Just to make sure that all the necessary details are not left out of the final results.

Regardless of my intent, it still resonates with doing what only GOD can do. And that is to bring about the best outcome to any situation or problem that I have. I’ve learned that it’s not always the outcome I had hoped for or expected. But in every situation, it was the very best. And let me be clear here: I’m very thankful that GOD did not pay attention to all those things on my wish list, because they didn’t compare to His answers.

As I learn to surrender, it’s not a throw up my hands in a “I give up!” posture. My surrender is actually a loving response to a sovereign and all powerful compassionate Redeemer King.

Come and join me for this moment to listen and learn from Lysa as she brings to life from the Bible what that surrender looks like. You’ll be glad you did!

I love you to Heaven and Back, Girlfriend ~
