13 Thereafter, Hagar used another name to refer to the Lord, who had spoken to her. She said, “You are the God who sees me.” She also said, “Have I truly seen the One who sees me?” Genesis 16:13 NLT
Sometimes we just need to get back to basics: GOD sees us. GOD loves us. Repeat after me: GOD sees me. GOD loves me. Period.
And if you didn’t know that, please understand that He is not looking down on you like a judge in a courtroom ready to beat a gavel to declare you judged and guilty. GOD is love and sees you with eyes of love.
Let that sit with you a bit. It doesn’t matter what kind of week you’ve had. Remember, He saw all of that anyway.
Maybe your past experience of hearing about GOD was in a church that didn’t seem warm and inviting ~ so you stopped going. Or maybe you felt out of place, not being able to relate to what the people around you were talking about ~ they all seemed to speak a foreign language: Christian-ese.
Perhaps you remained isolated after the pandemic of 2020 and just grew comfy in your livingroom ‘attending church’ from a virtual setting ~ waking up five minutes before service, remaining in your pj’s, sipping on your java, and not having to deal with other people, especially those ones who kept trying to invite you to their circles for ‘fellowship.’
Today I just wanted to share these basic truths with you. Not that you have forgotten, but in all the hustle and bustle of the day, we tend to be fixated on accomplishing and producing and maybe impressing for all the wrong reasons.
When was the last time you allowed yourself to sit in the stillness and transparent presence of your Savior when meditating on the fact that He sees you and loves you, regardless of whether you’re shiny and swag, or OG and clumsy (like me). 😉
Jesus sees us when we’re too busy to open up our Bible and read the wisdom that will get us through that day we’re so bent on conquering. He loves us when we blow off His Holy Spirit whispers as ‘irrational ideas’ that entered our intelligent and reasonable thought processes.
Could today be the day you return to your first love and remember that He patiently waits for you to stop in your tracks to acknowledge Him and cultivate that relationship you’ve always wanted? Don’t worry, He won’t hold you captive for the entire day. But He would like to spend some quality time with His favorite child. 🤗
If you think that Jesus wants you to remain as you are when you first met Him, you’ve obviously got some catching up to do with Him. He has so much more for you to experience (love, joy, and peace for starters)! But you can’t go it alone. Reach out to someone at your local church ~ or reach out to me here. I’ll prayerfully partner with you. Jesus saved you and has plans for you to keep growing and going.
Let’s take a holy praise break ~ just a few minutes ~ to offer up our own words of gratitude to the One Who sees us and loves us exactly as we are, right where we are.
I love you to Heaven and Back, Girlfriend ~
