5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart;
do not depend on your own understanding.
6 Seek his will in all you do,
and he will show you which path to take. Proverbs 3:5-6 NLT11 For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope. Jeremiah 29:11 NLT
21 You can make many plans,
but the Lord’s purpose will prevail. Proverbs 19:21 NLT
Have you ever reached a point where you just didn’t know what to do next? Perhaps you’re there now, in this very moment. Maybe you feel stuck, trapped, even sinking deeper into the pit you’ve found yourself sitting.
First, let me extend a warm embrace and tell you that I get you. I’ve been there, Sweet Friend. And I know it feels like the situation won’t let up. Go ahead and let it out. Don’t keep it all bottled up inside of you ~ you’ll burst trying to contain your thoughts and feelings contained. But as you let it all loose, I’m going to direct you to look upward to release all of that ‘stuff’ that’s waiting to be exhaled.
Jesus has been waiting for this moment with you ~ so go ahead and unpack.
Take your heart, your thoughts, your emotions, your Bible, and pen and paper ~ go to Him in prayer and let it all flow. Don’t try to lace fancy ‘Christianese’ words or make it sound proper. Jesus already saw how it looks in the original form, so there’s no sense in trying to cover it up (like putting lipstick on a pig ~ it’s still a pig) to make it look acceptable or pretty.
28 Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Matthew 11:28 NLT
I love how Jesus is so inviting ~ especially when the world is so dismissive. Even people with the best intentions can seem so cold and clueless when you’re searching for a kind and compassionate shoulder to lean on. But that just proves that He is the only One with whom you should confide in and consult with at that moment. When the rest of humanity seems so cold and aloof, He’s drawing you near. Go there, Sister.
As you slow your pace to a stillness to sit with Him, consider your timeline with Jesus. Look over your lifetime and take note (yes, go ahead and jot those down) of His Faithfulness and Grace towards you. Go back through your memories as far back as you can, even BC times (before your face to face meeting with Christ).
Be mindful of everything ~ ask Him to reveal those overlooked moments and seasons in your life. You will find you need more paper than you brought. Leading up to the present moment, you will come to ‘see’ the Goodness of GOD gently blowing into every breath of your life.
And with every ‘landmark’ that you take notice of, you will see there was a lesson learned in that season. It was all divinely intended for you to take that lesson and the seeds planted within you and allow Him to transform them into ‘tools’ for the work you would later accomplish.
Some of those lessons were learned the hard way. Our proclivity to respond (or react) in a manner that maybe the Lord wanted us to surrender ~ we didn’t always pick up on. Turning a deaf ear to the Holy Spirit will do that. Consequences have a way of alerting us to the fact we’re off track. Repentance gets us back on the right road.
What we need to remember is that Jesus calls us to walk out this life in faithful confident surrender to Him. He’s constantly loading up our tool belt, with every victory He allows for us to willingly participate in with Him. He doesn’t call observers. He calls Followers ~ that’s a call to Action. Following translates into movement.
That heap of a mess you’re in right now ~ it’s temporary. I don’t say that to make light of your ugly situation, by any means. But I want to whisper Hope into your space. His Name is Jesus. If you’re tired of trying to ‘fix’ that mess, if it seems like it’s so overwhelming that you’re suffocating, if all your ‘understanding friends’ seem to have vanished that’s because He wants to be your audience of One … He is right where you are.
Let His Voice speak peace over your situation. Allow His Word to breathe life into your dreams, goals, and aspirations. Then get ready to do the work of trusting and obeying. You won’t be sitting still waiting for your solution to float downward from heaven. Get your shoes on, Sister, and start walking in faith.
24 “‘“The Lord bless you
and keep you;
25 the Lord make his face shine on you
and be gracious to you;
26 the Lord turn his face toward you
and give you peace.”’ Numbers 6:24-26 NIV
I love you to Heaven and Back, Girlfriend ~
