13 And if you ask for anything in my name, I will do it for you so that the Father’s glory will be shown through the Son. 14 If you ask me for anything in my name, I will do it. John 14:13-14 NCV
24 Until now you have not asked for anything in my name. Ask and you will receive, so that your joy will be the fullest possible joy. John 16:24 NCV
Some of us have a difficult time asking for things. Whether it is for help to carry groceries into the house, or for assistance to move furniture. Perhaps it’s asking for help to clean our house or to take us to a doctor’s appointment. Many times it’s asking for someone to just listen. That sort of hindrance is rooted in our past of not-so-great experiences.
I get you, Friend.
Maybe you’re like me, and would rather miss out on a spectacular opportunity than “inconvenience” a another person with your request. Some of us do that because we feel undeserving of our request.
People felt that way when Jesus walked in their presence. They mistakenly believed that they were not worthy of even coming close to Him physically. But Jesus calls us ~ all of us ~ to come close. And then He takes the next step and invites us to make our requests known.
Even while we know that Jesus, the Son of GOD, the second Person of the Trinity, is fully aware of what we are going to ask before we even try to put the words together, He loves to hear the sound of our voice. Think on this: He smiles when you speak to Him. Relationships are like that.
No fancy words needed. No need to get dressed up or even cleaned up. Just speak and He’s up close and ready to listen. We don’t have to do a thing to prepare or rehearse, we simply talk to Him. That’s the kind of Savior you have. He just loves you that way.
You may have experienced disappointment with people who have judged or rejected you, but Jesus would never do that. He says, “Come.” That invitation is always available.
Placing your full trust in Jesus is setting your faith in launch mode. Faith is taking that step forward when you’re not always seeing where your feet land. Faith is believing that He will be right there with you in every breath and heartbeat. Faith is knowing that He has the best in store for you and will reveal it when He knows you’re ready for it.
20 With God’s power working in us, God can do much, much more than anything we can ask or imagine. Ephesians 3:20 NCV
3 Call to me and I will answer you, and will tell you great and hidden things that you have not known. Jeremiah 33:3 ESV
You may be wondering if ‘now’ is the time to ‘ask’ for what has been heavy on your heart and mind. Jesus doesn’t want you to go another second carrying that alone. Take this moment to just be still and unpack. He’s waiting.
I know that once you have your come-to-Jesus-meeting, you’ll be glad you did. Then step back and watch Him work it all out for you. He will blow your mind!
I love you to Heaven and Back, Girlfriend~
