After this, Jesus crossed over to the far side of the Sea of Galilee, also known as the Sea of Tiberias. 2 A huge crowd kept following him wherever he went, because they saw his miraculous signs as he healed the sick. 3 Then Jesus climbed a hill and sat down with his disciples around him. 4 (It was nearly time for the Jewish Passover celebration.) 5 Jesus soon saw a huge crowd of people coming to look for him. Turning to Philip, he asked, “Where can we buy bread to feed all these people?” 6 He was testing Philip, for he already knew what he was going to do.
7 Philip replied, “Even if we worked for months, we wouldn’t have enough money to feed them!”
8 Then Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother, spoke up. 9 “There’s a young boy here with five barley loaves and two fish. But what good is that with this huge crowd?”
10 “Tell everyone to sit down,” Jesus said. So they all sat down on the grassy slopes. (The men alone numbered about 5,000.) 11 Then Jesus took the loaves, gave thanks to God, and distributed them to the people. Afterward he did the same with the fish. And they all ate as much as they wanted. 12 After everyone was full, Jesus told his disciples, “Now gather the leftovers, so that nothing is wasted.” 13 So they picked up the pieces and filled twelve baskets with scraps left by the people who had eaten from the five barley loaves. If you’re like me, you’ve had your moments when you’ve asked GOD, “Where are You?”
Even as we who profess to have walked and talked with Jesus for decades, if we’re honest, we will admit to those dark times when we’ve felt forgotten or abandoned by GOD. When He seems to have gone ‘silent’ on us.
In this sermon from Christine Caine, we are called to remember that GOD’s nature is the one constant in our lives. He is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow. So, the issue is not with Him, but with us. The storms in life will change from one breath to the next. But He will always remain the same.
We humans are quick to forget the incredible miracles of yesterday (sometimes that’s literal) and we wake up plowing into a plea session with GOD as if He is not aware of our circumstances. Not only that, but we are swift to remind Him of our inadequacies and shortcomings that have led to the present derailment in our lives.
Join me for a break in your day to listen to this powerful message from Christine as she brings us back to the piercing truth of Scripture and the reminder that we have signed up to do the work of GOD with the tools (our learned lessons from Him) He has given us. We are not intended to be passive recipients of divine downloaded miracles. Sometimes GOD calls us to use what He has taught us and to multiply that over the generations that are coming up behind us.
I love you to Heaven and Back, Girlfriend ~
