Lift Your Spirit ~ “Chasing”

All of us, like sheep, have strayed away.
We have left God’s paths to follow our own.
Yet the Lord laid on him
    the sins of us all.
Isaiah 53:6 NLT

So Jesus told them this story: “If a man has a hundred sheep and one of them gets lost, what will he do? Won’t he leave the ninety-nine others in the wilderness and go to search for the one that is lost until he finds it? And when he has found it, he will joyfully carry it home on his shoulders. When he arrives, he will call together his friends and neighbors, saying, ‘Rejoice with me because I have found my lost sheep.’ In the same way, there is more joy in heaven over one lost sinner who repents and returns to God than over ninety-nine others who are righteous and haven’t strayed away! Luke 15:3-7 NLT

If you know the Lover of your soul, your Redeemer King, your faithful Shepherd, you will understand the lyrics of this worshipful praise song to be the anthem of your heart. You have an indescribable appreciation for what He did to claim you.

It is in the BC (before Christ) days of our lives that we were so far off the mark that we didn’t even realize what we were doing to ourselves. The contrast coming into view as Jesus became clearer in our view.

If you’re like me, you’ve lived through seasons of dissatisfaction after chasing dreams and goals that you may have thought were the ultimate answer to your life’s calling. Or perhaps your were convinced that you were following the trail of bread crumbs that were sure to lead you to the perfect __________ (you can fill in the blank), only to be sorely disappointed and frustrated, wondering why God would allow you to go through such heartache.

All of us have chased those ideas and dreams. But those of us who came to the knowledge of the One who designed us to dream beyond our everyday thoughts, have also to realized that He is who we should have been pursuing and chasing all along.

Once you come into a personal relationship with Jesus, your entire life changes. Life is not guaranteed to be smooth and easy when you do. In fact, because you will make unpopular decisions and walk away from old lifestyle habits, life can become challenging in many ways.

However, you will come to know your Savior intimately when you chase after Him daily. And you will discover a greater satisfaction ~ one that goes beyond words of description. Gratitude will have a whole new meaning. Peace that passes all understanding will overwhelm you.

If you haven’t yet met Jesus, please consider having your one-on-one with Him now. He will meet you right where you are, and you won’t have to prep for the meeting. Just show up. After all, chasing everything else hasn’t gotten you much further than where you started.

l’m praying for you, Friend.

I love you to Heaven and Back, Girlfriend ~
