“Christmas Myth Busters” ~ Lisa Harper’s Back Porch Theology

All right then, the Lord himself will give you the sign. Look! The virgin will conceive a child! She will give birth to a son and will call him Immanuel (which means ‘God is with us’). Isaiah 7:14 NLT

Instead, God chose things the world considers foolish in order to shame those who think they are wise. And he chose things that are powerless to shame those who are powerful.

1 Corinthians 1:27 NLT

It’s Christmas season in many parts of the world. And for those of us who know the foundation of this celebration, there is a lot of, let’s say, disagreement about the ‘proper way’ to celebrate and commemorate this historical event.

Santa Claus, reindeer, three wise men, Christmas trees, lights, presents … ho, ho, hold up! The list is endless. And whether you’re a Christ Follower or not, you’ve likely been eyewitness to much of the battling over what’s right and what’s wrong. Inside and outside of the church, people are hurling accusations like it’s a snowball fight in the dead of winter.

I invite you to take a break to listen to this podcast session taken from Lisa Harper’s ‘Back Porch Theology’ weekly podcast.

While it may touch on a few tender spots in your belief system, perhaps even your personal practices that involve the way you choose to celebrate Christmas, it will definitely enlighten and broaden your knowledge about a few of the traditions we consider common during this time of year.

Join me as we sit at the table of conversation with Lisa, Ali (her moderator), and Lisa’s mentor, Dr. Howard. Come with a willingness to listen, learn, and grow.

I love you to Heaven and Back, Girlfriend ~
