Lift Your Spirit ~ “Why Should I Worry?”

25 “That is why I tell you not to worry about everyday life—whether you have enough food and drink, or enough clothes to wear. Isn’t life more than food, and your body more than clothing? 26 Look at the birds. They don’t plant or harvest or store food in barns, for your heavenly Father feeds them. And aren’t you far more valuable to him than they are? 27 Can all your worries add a single moment to your life?

28 “And why worry about your clothing? Look at the lilies of the field and how they grow. They don’t work or make their clothing, 29 yet Solomon in all his glory was not dressed as beautifully as they are. 30 And if God cares so wonderfully for wildflowers that are here today and thrown into the fire tomorrow, he will certainly care for you. Why do you have so little faith?

31 “So don’t worry about these things, saying, ‘What will we eat? What will we drink? What will we wear?’ 32 These things dominate the thoughts of unbelievers, but your heavenly Father already knows all your needs. 33 Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.

34 “So don’t worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries. Today’s trouble is enough for today. Matthew 6:25-34 NLT

Perhaps your eyes landed on this at this moment because you’re in need of some comfort and reassurance that you’re not living this life alone, Friend. And just maybe you needed to hear someone speak some truth into your space.

This is for the one who has more on her platter than she can possibly navigate through and sort out, much less single-handed. The weight of all the things is just so overwhelming.

I get you, Sister.

And I want you to know that all the worrying and focusing on the details will not make the situation any better. In fact, you’ll find yourself in a heap of exhaustion.

Can we be totally honest here?

For all the hours, days, weeks, and months that we pour over the messes in our lives, how much of that really amounts to moving forward? If you’re like me, all that kind of activity does is cause the worry meter to go off the rails.

Scripture tells us what Jesus taught about worry. In fact, Jesus knew how hyper-focused we can become, so He spoke specifically about the minutia that we lose sleep over: food, clothing, shelter, aging, physical appearances … He is telling us that we essentially cannot change things simply by worrying about or trying to manipulate circumstances.

Is it remotely possible that in all this kind of activity that we feel helpless because we cannot control what is happening, or what happens next? It’s hard to let go of the (invisible) remote control and trust the One Who has our best interest at Heart.

Yup … me, too. And I think a few others would nod their heads right alongside you.

Let me share something amazing with you: we don’t have to get caught up in this chaotic fixation of trying to make things happen (on our time ~ and the way we want). In fact, it’s so much freeing if we trust GOD with the process and the outcome.

I will tell you from personal experience that His plan always exceeded my imagination ~ every single time. And I pray that you’ll come to experience the same. I hope you will learn to walk with your head high, shoulders drawn back, and stepping forward with confidence.

It starts with the first prayer of release.

And I’m right there agreeing with you. Let’s do this!

I love you to Heaven and Back, Girlfriend ~
