Friend, are you longing for a turnaround? We all struggled with discouragement and weariness this year. Life as we knew it has completely changed with a global pandemic, uncertainty, division and chaos. Each of us has received a share of new challenges and problems. Do you often cry out to God as I do, asking Him, “How long oh Lord, how long?”
It seems we are in a season when weeping lasts. But hear the good news: joy comes in the morning!
“For his anger lasts only a moment, but his favor lasts a lifetime! Weeping may last through the night, but joy comes with the morning.” Psalm 30:5 NLT
What is this joy that comes after the weeping? This is the joy of the turnaround, the joy of God’s victory in our lives, of His purposes prevailing. This is the joy of fulfillment of His promises, of experiencing His provision.
This is the joy of prayers heard and answered in ways unimaginable, of seeing God doing things and moving things in a way only He can do, exceeding our expectations.
How can we prepare ourselves for the joy that comes in the morning?
There are three main ways we can do this:
- The first is our continuous commitment to trust the Lord and wait upon Him.
Sometimes, it is extremely challenging to continue trusting God especially when we don’t see any improvement in our situations. But one way or another God always saves us from our troubles – either by providing a solution or providing the strength to endure with joy.
- The second way to prepare ourselves for the joy the comes in the morning is to nourish our minds and souls daily with the truths in God’s Word.
These precious truths help us shift our perspective and stay focused on the unchangeable character and promises of God.
- The third way to open our hearts for the joy that is coming is to focus our minds on things above and start living for eternity.
Everything on this earth is temporary and transient, including our sorrows and darkest nights.
Even when we don’t receive the turnarounds we hope for in our earthly life, we will surely experience the grand turnaround at the end of history promised by God since the beginning. The grand finale is eternal joy in the presence of God. So, we learn to live our days eagerly awaiting His Promise towards us:
“what no ear has heard, and what no human mind has conceived” – the things God has prepared for those who love him.” 1 Corinthians 2:9 NIV
Friend, do you truly believe that the weeping has an end? Do you truly believe that God is trustworthy and will do what He has promised? Are you confident that joy comes in the morning? You can be because joy is the believers’ destiny and future.
“and provide for those who grieve in Zion— to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair. They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the Lord for the display of his splendor.” Isaiah 61:3 NIV
Arise, Sister, the Lord desires to fill your morning with joy!
