Lift Your Spirit

And because we are his children, God has sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, prompting us to call out, “Abba, Father.” Galatians 4:6 NLT

Almighty GOD calls us His Children. That’s an astounding and remarkable concept when you stop to think about it. There are some days I can hardly stand to see the image staring back at me when I look into the mirror. To think that GOD has seen the ugly before I did and yet, He still chooses me … because He loves me … and calls me His Child with delight in His Voice.

Hardly seems possible.

But He does and with joy in His Heart He beckons me near.

Friend, if you have accepted the forgiveness He extends to everyone through the love of Jesus Christ, you, too, are of His Family. And with that, you, too, can proclaim, ‘Abba, I belong to you!’

We all know where we’ve been and what we’ve done … so does GOD. And yet, He still comes towards us to embrace us after all we’ve chosen to do. So far, far away from what we could fathom would be hardly acceptable … He embraces us, wipes tears from our faces and lifts our head.

I would venture to say that you and I have lived red-faced moments that we wish could be erased from our history. And while there are people who can recall every embarrassing detail of these taunting memories, GOD has stricken those from our account. He does not see the bad and the ugly in us — although He was present at the very second it fell upon us.

With all that is within me, I will never be able to comprehend this extraordinary love the Father has towards us who believe in and cling to Him. But this I do know …

I am His and He is mine. And so are you.

As this Father’s Day weekend begins to unfold, may you step into it in a worshipful manner to the One Whom we call: Abba Father.
