Will you join me for some conversation over soothing tea? I’d love to just take a moment to enjoy this space in time and relax with a good friend.
We’re on the brink of summer … where has all the time gone? The birds are singing and chirping in every direction outside of my window. The garden lizards seem to be staying out in the sun longer during the course of the afternoon. The yard looks greener and blooms are beginning to appear again.
As I gaze out at my garden, my mind wanders … thinking about what it may have looked like in Eden. My yard is no comparison to Eden — that was the epitome of lush landscape and vegetation all finely manicured by the Master Gardener Himself. What would it have smelled like? With all those different florals it must have been the next best thing to heaven. What kind of surface did Adam and Even walk on? Was it a velvety luxurious green that would cushion your every step? And the colors … what it must have looked like to be surrounded by such a kaleidoscope … indescribable!
Adam and Eve had everything going for them.
How often do I look to the left or right and think, “Your grass seems so much greener than mine …” Instead of looking up to the Giver of all Life and unconditional Love, I mistakenly drop my head and feel the crabgrass between my toes. That’s when the weeds seem bigger than life in my own yard and I miss out on the beauty of what’s in front of me. Those weeds — they can distort my view and blur my vision if I let them.
Friend, what things do you allow to disrupt your day? I can bet they’re the same things that I occasionally let into mine. But together we can help lift each other up out of that dim and dreary mindset and set our minds and eyes on the One Who gave us our own space with which to praise Him.
I will bless the LORD at all times; his praise shall continually be in my mouth. Psalm 34:1 English Standard Version
I’m in, are you? It’s a short enough Scripture verse to commit to memory so that we can tuck in in our spiritual back pocket for when we’re feeling down or discouraged.
I invite you to share another Scripture verse in the “Comments” so that we can cheer each other on and build a library of reminders for our soul.
Until our next tea time …
I love you to Heaven and Back, Girlfriend ~~
