People may not sit still long enough to hear a sermon, but they’ll certainly bend an ear to a good story. And we all have one, Friend. Some stories are retold for the sake of healing — for the listener, not the orator. These stories bear the weight of pain and anguish and are reminiscent in the scars we carry. But they also are a healing balm for the one whose wounds are still fresh. They speak the miracle of mending in the broken places of life.
I call them heroes … Abraham, Moses, David, Ruth, Noah … the list goes on … and on. These precious forerunners of our faith stepped out in faith based on Who GOD said He was to them. The Eternal Father, Yahweh, the Alpha and Omega, I AM. These heroes had a story that others told on their behalf long after they had breathed their last breath.
Our stories can be told by us in the here and now, Friend. We can declare the wonders of GOD’s workings in our life so that others may choose to also walk with Him. Sometimes, our stories are told with our mouths closed — living life is often the loudest testimony one can preach. Even the blind can see that in real time motion.
What does your story look like? How would you want it to look?
From cover to cover, I want my story to declare the faithfulness of GOD. While it may look like my story, it is actually HIS-story written on the pages of my life. I wouldn’t want to draw the attention to me — I would not be the exemplary main character to model after. But GOD — now that’s the One to shine the light upon. He’s the Author and Finisher of my story. My foibles and failures are redeemed only with the ink that flows from His Hand.
I’m so thankful He edits my errors and sees me worthy to keep telling … of His love throughout my story.
