Thirty Seconds Thursday

God heals the brokenhearted and bandages their wounds. Psalm 147:3 CEB

If your heart is broken, you’ll find God right there;
if you’re kicked in the gut, he’ll help you catch your breath. Psalm 34:18 The Message

How do you respond when someone shares the pain and hurt that comes out of their journey with grief?

In less than a month, I’ve had two dear friends experience the heartbreak of losing a loved one through death. And as we all have experienced, it’s a sensitive, raw and vulnerable time, regardless of the circumstances.

More times than not, the privilege to extend ourselves to be a conduit of the love and grace of GOD befalls us in soft Whispers. Friend, like the fluttering of dandelions in a gentle midday breeze, His Voice speaks of ways for us to be His Arm, Leg, Hand, Feet … to touch someone just needing to feel the Divine Presence. That heavenly hug that we are yearning to feel.

Choosing our words of comfort and consolation can be tricky and awkward at times. We want to be compassionate and sincere, not sounding like a Hallmark card or a Pinterest post. To express and offer our heart to a broken one to let her know we are there for her.

An ear to listen, a shoulder to lean on, a bearer of tissue boxes …

Today can we just pause to pray for those walking the path of grief right now? Let Heaven hear your voice on behalf of she who is deeply entrenched in a valley of sorrow and a flood of tears.

“Heavenly Father, Lord we praise You this day for Who You are, and the Mighty works of Your Hand. We thank you for the goodness, mercy and grace by which You have called us out to be your servants of love and compassion. As Your heart broke for those who were sick, hurting, lonely and dying, we come to You in humility to intercede for those whom You have placed on our hearts. Your tenderness runs through our veins and so we lift up ________________________________ to You with the full confidence that You can heal their brokenness and restore their joy. We know that only You can reach down deep enough to do that. We thank You for the privilege to approach Your Throne of Grace as Your Daughter of The Light. We know we are loved by You and we love you so much. In Jesus’ Name and by the power of the Holy Spirit, Amen.”

I love you to Heaven and Back, Girlfriend ~~
