Lift Your Spirit

To-do lists. Agendas. Plans. We all have them in some form. We carefully store them in our smart phones, they notify us on our smart watches, we write them down on our calendars, planners and even down to the sticky notes on mirrors, computers and refrigerators.

When I was in the corporate world, I even led a training session for frontline supervisors and managers in a thing we used to call ‘time management.’ This was back in the archaic days of actually writing things down on paper. As you itemized each task for a given day, you just wrote them out (a brain dump of sorts), not in any particular order.

Then once you made your comprehensive list, you went back to the top of that list and selected the tasks that were absolute non-negotiable and urgent. Those were your ‘A’ items. When you selected all the ‘A’ items, you then went back through those and determined which needed to be accomplished first, second and so on. You numbered those respectively.

The awarded A-1 was urgent. It could not be compromised. You had a responsibility and were committed to that A-1 task. Everything else fell into place from there. And on some days, those really hard days, A-1 consumed your entire day.

“What is top priority on your daily list?”

I had met some people who struggled with the coveted A-1 — that is, the assigning of its place on the list. The answer is always: “First things first.” What do you consider to be first thing(s)?

33 Seek first God’s kingdom and what God wants. Then all your other needs will be met as well. Matthew 6:33 NCV

Reserving a relationship with GOD for a single day of the week … or only when we’re around church-going people … what kind of relationship is that? Seriously Friend, if we call ourselves His Disciples (Followers), Christians, then do we not associate with Him more personally than a casual distant wave?

There’s nothing wrong with hitting the ol’ reset button. Really. Our GOD is big on it. In fact, He doesn’t limit us to just a second chance. He’s unlimited — that’s where He’s put you and me on His list. We will always have His undivided attention. And He will always give us His best. All of that at any time of the day.

Always means always to the Faithful One. If there was no one else on planet earth for Jesus to die for, you would still be A-1. He’s just that way. He’s just that good. He’s just that committed to you and me.

At the very least, let’s put first things first.

I love you to Heaven and Back, Girlfriend ~~

  1. I love this reminder that I am A-1 on HIS list and I have His attention. 💕
Everyone is so distracted by their “Smart” devices nowadays- God isn’t distracted- He is completely in-tuned to our needs.
