Lift Your Spirit – “You Alone Are GOD”

For You are great and do wondrous works!
You alone are God. Psalm 86:10 Amplified

Praising GOD in every circumstance is not always easy. And if I’m totally honest with you, Sister, I would have to admit that I have had moments when I really didn’t think I had it in me to do at all.

Interestingly enough, the beloved King David wrestled with this as well.

King David was king over Israel not because he earned it. He was appointed king because GOD anointed him for it. David was not a perfect human; and we can relate to his humanness. He sinned in ways that maybe we have not, but no greater than our sins were his. Sin is sin; there are no varying degrees or different levels. It is what it is. Period.

And in this Psalm King David is surrendering his heart — he knows all too well that GOD has always seen inside of it. King David is admitting that only GOD can hear his humble prayers.

In that dark quiet corner of our prayer closets, where we think that no one peeks in to hear the sobs of our heart, GOD meets us as we collapse into prayer and praise.

Perhaps it’s been a tough week, month, year, season — I get you. GOD always gets us.

Fall into His Arms, I know He will catch you — He’s always done that for me. Let Him hear the cries of your spirit. And just maybe you’ll start to turn your prayers into praise knowing that He has already heard you before you opened your mouth.

There’s no one quite like you among the gods, O Lord,
and nothing to compare with your works.
All the nations you made are on their way,
ready to give honor to you, O Lord,
Ready to put your beauty on display,
    parading your greatness,
And the great things you do—
God, you’re the one, there’s no one but you!
